The Oldest in Rochester

  • The oldest cemetery in Rochester: King's Landing (1798) also called Hanford's Landing Cemetery is a pioneer cemetery on the west bank of the Genesee river where early settlers succumbed to "Genesee fever". It predates the older Rapids Cemetery (c 1810-12) and Mount Hope Cemetery (1838) [2][3][4][5] (maps)
  • The oldest church in Rochester:  St. Luke's church (1824) replaced a smaller wooden building (1820) used by the early citizens of Rochesterville.  It is also presently listed at the oldest public building on Rochester. [6][7] (maps)
  • The oldest house in Rochester: Stone-Tolan house (1792).  Home of Orringh and Elizabeth Stone located in what is now East Avenue. [1] (maps)
